Amy Soczka

Amy Soczka (aka Amy Duffey) is best known for her large-scale paintings of densely-grown landscapes of not-quite real flowers and foliage. The compositions are most often bright and deeply saturated, with a palette inspired by nature and a good dose of neon highlights reminiscent of an 80’s childhood. Amy lives and works in Cedarburg, Wisconsin with her husband and two daughters, and has dedicated her life to the work of creating contrasting beauty in a constantly evolving environment. She is inspired visually by patterns in nature and architecture, estate sales and what people collect and leave behind, a childhood love for Lisa Frank and Gustav Klimt simultaneously, and daydreamy people-watching habits. Amy graduated with a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and studied for one year at Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin, Italy. She worked as a Graphic Designer for 10 years and maintained a small wholesale stationary business. The illustrations she created for her cards, prints and calendars evolved to larger  paintings in gouache on paper as well as large-scale papercut works. Her current work is a series of large acrylic paintings on canvas depicting lush floral motifs, geometric and natural patterns, and the occasional portrait of imagined figures. Amy's work is included in the permanent collection at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas as well as in the homes of private collectors.
